PADI Dive Instructor

PADI Dive Instructor and Dive Guide

logoWe are looking for experienced dive instructors who are passionate about diving and boating. Our company is growing and we are looking for dive instructors that are willing to work hard, not be afraid of getting their hands dirty and be excited to work for a company that is always striving to do more.

Your primary purpose would be to serve as a PADI Dive Instructor and dive guide for our fleet of 3 dive boats. The perfect candidate would be a PADI Professional who is willing and interested in teaching and guiding dives.  We currently do a lot of Discover Scubas and taking certified divers on daily dives, the training program is growing so the more you are able to teach, the better.

We are a PADI 5 Star IDC Center but have not hosted IDCs since the big hurricanes. We have plans to reintroduce the professional programs better than ever.

We would expect you to be calm, experienced, safe, flexible, and understand that our guests are our top priority. We are looking for team players that would never use the phrase “that’s not my job” when asked to do something. We would expect you to have the utmost integrity and always do your best.

A normal workday consists of 2-morning dives, 2-afternoon dives, and possibly a night dive. The typical day is usually 10-hours. A normal workweek is 40-50 hours for our full-time crew but could be more during holidays. Exceptional communication skills and an outgoing personality are key ingredients to being successful with our company. You must be able to exude a positive attitude with crew and guests even when you are tired or are having a bad day.

You must have experience with boat skills and be familiar with the duties of a mate such as tying up a boat to a dock, mooring and anchoring a boat, emergency procedures, diving from a boat, etc. The winds never seem to stop here so you must be comfortable handling windy conditions and understand we very rarely cancel a dive due to winds because our dives sites are mostly protected areas.

All of our dives are stationary so you are expected to be comfortable navigating guests away from the boat and bringing them back safely and on time.

If you are passionate about your job and willing to go the extra mile for your team and your guests we offer year-round work, competitive wages, health insurance options, and dive instruction liability insurance. You would be responsible for your annual PADI membership and consortium fees (Approx $100).

St. John is a beautiful place to live and work but you must be comfortable with small island living. We do not provide housing but are happy to help guide you in your search.

Our instructors must be computer literate, not scared of paperwork, and appreciative of excellence in guest services. You will be responsible for processing all your own PADI paperwork so you should be familiar with the PADI Pro site and processing procedures. All of our courses, where possible, are taught using eLearning and with the newest PADI materials and procedures. Without question, you would be held to all PADI Standards and be expected to stay current. A cell phone is also a must for communication with our team, checking your schedule, and performing general duties.

You will need to either be a member of a drug consortium or join upon arrival. The sign-up fees and annual membership are your responsibility.

You must be authorized to work in the United States and have all proper visas and any necessary paperwork.

You must have the Covid 19 vaccine
